Every artist has her own particular muse. For me, it's the natural world, and people and things that evoke natural beauty.

Which means that when I got serious about photography at 12, I spent hours taking photographs of people in the woods in and around where I lived. And that, unsurprisingly, that's still one of my favorite things to do today.

I live close to San Francisco, but almost never photograph there or in other urban locations. I'm most delighted by the labyrinthine lines of trees, the color of dusky grass and a smudge of fog at the edge of a blue sky.

So are a lot of the people I work with. I think we are cut from the same rough hewn cloth. Are you?
