Last weekend I had the honor of photographing Sydney's Bat Mitzvah at San Francisco's Temple Emanuel and Laurent Studios. Sydney is part of an amazing family, and this was a truly amazing day. We began the day at the temple, where Sydney performed with grace and confidence. She later told me she'd been nervous, but this was hard to believe watching her speak with such calm and clarity. Her speech about her Torah portion was very moving, advanced far beyond Sydney's 13 years. In general, clapping is not encouraged inside of temples, but Sydney's speech was so powerful the audience seemed to forget themselves and burst into applause. Way to go, Sydney!

Sydney's reception was held at Laurent Studios in San Francisco. Organized by Jenna Lam from Laurie Arons Special Events in collaboration with Kathleen Deery Designs, Taste Catering, Blueprint Studios, this soiree was a true masterpiece, complete with a photobooth, ice cream stand, sushi bar (Sydney's favorite food), candy caviar, sweets table, and more.
