Calistoga Ranch is one of my very favorite places to photograph. It's nestled into a canyon, with rugged mountains rising high up into the sky. I've heard ducks chorus during ceremonies on Lommel Lawn, and the crooning of frogs during nighttime soirees. When the sun sets, the sky turns indigo and brims with a sparkling skyscape.
I think part of the reason I love photographing weddings in natural places is because the awe I feel in places like that matches the awe I feel as people partake in the magical ritual that is a wedding. The awe I feel as fathers give their daughters away, as people cross the threshold into a whole new life. As they celebrate the beauty of love, and the richness of the future they dream of.
